Pandamatic (part one)

"You name dropper! :P (I'm still honoured though.)"

date: March 9, 2005

Very fun-looking, well crafted graphics. The animation "shortcuts" obviously paid off in filesize, but the motion of everything in the movie was very nice to look at, so the occasional misaligned elbow was nothing major. ;) Some very accomplished animating there. It must've been heaps of fun to make.
The witty understatement throughout was very stylish, cheesy in places, but still the good sort of cheesy. Some great comic moments ("$59,000!"). The humour was sort of typical "daily 3-panel comic"-ish, but the length of the movie totally made up for this. I enjoyed it, unlike I would most daily 3-panel comics. Well done! :D
My only whinge is that the music seemed a little bit like it was holding back, during the intro credits mainly. I wanted to hear some lyrics there! Maybe next time?
Overall, and enjoyable piece of well-scripted nonsense that was long enough to have a scene-selection menu at the end, but still worth another complete Replay anyhow.
(Looks like I'm going to hafta try harder in my own animations if I want that $250, eh? OI OI OI!!!!)

Mostly Metal Jacket

"Best ever."

date: February 12, 2005

That is the best storyline/genre -based animutation since Plan 9. I take off my hat to you, good sir. And I also take off my pants, but only because after seeing this movie, I need to change them.

Here is a medical analysis of the subject's behaviour as he was affected by the movie.

---===WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW===---

Stage 1: The training. Subject is grinning, occasionally snickering

Stage 2: Enemy sighted. Subject is laughing out loud intermittantly.

Stage 3: Retreat. Subject is now near-continuously laughing out loud, only breathing intermittantly.

Stage 4: Hippie-ness. Subject's laughter is uncontrolled; is showing signs of oxygen deprivation, but is in a euphoric state.

Stage 5: Intermission & Return. Subject is able to breathe again, laughter is more controlled.

Stage 6: Showdown. Subject is laughing too loud to hear the music properly, but that doesn't matter since he knows this song quite well, having downloaded it at the same time as Opblaaskrokodil and considered using it himself. Tears streaming from subject's eyes do nothing to stop subject from seeing the simplistic, uncomplicated action onscreen.

Stage 7: The End. Subject may have lapsed into shock. Subject cannot recall the ending, probably due to permanent brain damage. Subject's lawyers will be contacting the author of this movie forthwith.

Stage 8: Subject's pants changed.

The Beer Song video

"BURP!"

date: February 6, 2005

I decided to have a look at your Flash after seeing a review of yours for my latest movie... it's not often that one gets reviews from other moviemakers...
Anyway, very funny. What a great song, and some nice animation - the good balance of original art and imported images gave it an almost "All Your Base"-ish feel. I was LOLing all the way through.
Cheers!

Anything with Kabouter Plop music is a sure winner in my books, and your animation style owns all. Someday, all this *gestures to NewGrounds Portal* will be yours...

Gods List

"I have a prayer..."

submission: Gods List
date: December 19, 2004

Dear God,
Please reduce the echo effect in Your voice somewhat so that us poor mortals can hear what You're saying a little more clearly. Other than that, You're an okay deity.
I would have liked to have seen the suggestions box explored a little more, and seen more of the global effects of God's indifference, but that's just me. Good job.

Misfortune in the Woods

"No comment... except this:"

Very nice. Absurd, yet gently so. This movie isn't very categorisable... I like it. It was a little slow in places, but by no means boring.

Skeletor's Bakery 2

"Skeletor = THE SHIT!"

date: December 7, 2004

Ahhh, the good ol' tried-and-true method of sitcoms: When a joke isn't funny but the audience laugh, it's funny. It was also a riot to hear them clapping when Skeletor took a dump (haha I'm laughing just remembering it, even though it was so childish).

I enjoy any parody with "Skeletor" in the title, so things were off to a good start. I nearly exploded when the famous picture of Gary Coleman was shown.

The drawings were well done, and the voices weren't too shabby either. Excellent job on putting a song in there, I think I'll give you a 10/10 for sound, just because of that alone.

The photo after the credits was funny. Was it faked? Or is there really a baker with that name?

Hey, I'll give ya a 5/5. This is the best movie on NG that features poos. Yeah, even Prowlies doesn't compare to Skeletor's Bakery 2!

Pirate Poetry

"Good solid Flash."

submission: Pirate Poetry
date: December 4, 2004

The graphics were really cool, but you needed some instruction or some kind of interactivity guide to let people know how to change from one poem to the next. I was expecting a menu. The subtlety was good, but this is NewGrounds.
The poems themselves were funny. Ironic that bloodthirsty pirates would make poetry about their inner sadness. If only they all learned to open up (not surgically) and share their feelings with one another... Y'arr...

Who said pirates are
Bloodthirsty rapscallions?
They make poetry.

I won't forget

"One VERY Important Thing (please read this)"

submission: I won't forget
date: November 7, 2004

I thought this movie was one of the most beautiful Flash movies I've ever seen on Newgrounds.
However. There is one thing that you ought to do out of consideration of your viewers:
I convinced a friend of mine to watch "I Won't Forget" on their computer, but because your audio soundtrack wasn't set to "Stream" and their computer is a couple of years old now, the animation was running slightly slower on their computer - So the music reached the end of the song halfway through the movie.
As a result, my friend - who appreciates anime music videos of all genres - failed to get the full effect of the movie and grumbled about it being some pseudo-wanky piece of half-baked wannabe-manga crap. ;_;

Might I suggest that you go back into Flash, look in the "properties" tab on the keyframe upon which the music starts, and set the audio to "Stream". Then publish it (and re-upload it to Newgrounds by accessing your NG account's submission list and updating your submission by uploading the new SWF file). That way, the animation will run at a pace consistent with with that of the audio, and everybody will be moved and impressed by your work of art, regardless of the speed of their computer's processor.

Thank you for reading this, and thank you for your beautiful movie.
